Curiosity lies at the heart of The Sabah Society. For over half a century, the Society’s Talks and Lectures series has provided a respected platform for intellectual exchange and public learning. These sessions bring together experts, enthusiasts, and the wider community for engaging evenings of discussion and discovery.

Covering a wide spectrum of topics including nature, wildlife, conservation, cultural heritage, global affairs, social issues, environment, and other subjects of interest, the program reflects the Society’s belief in broadening horizons and sparking meaningful dialogue.

In earlier years, talks were hosted at venues such as the Sabah State Museum, Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort, Promenade Hotel, and Hyatt Regency. Today, they take place at the Society’s Secretariat at Damai Plaza, an accessible and welcoming space that continues to attract members, students, and the public.

Over the decades, distinguished speakers have contributed to this series, sharing research findings, policy insights, and lived experiences that enrich collective understanding. Importantly, these sessions remain open to the public and free of charge, reflecting the Society’s commitment to making knowledge accessible to all.

Through its Talks and Lectures, The Sabah Society continues to nurture a culture of curiosity, critical thinking, and lifelong learning, allowing participants to engage actively with topics that shape Sabah and the world around us while embodying the Society’s mission to know Sabah.
