DESCRIPTION:Borneo is home to some 940 butterfly species\, with 81 of them only confined to this island. Many are found in the tropival rainforests of Sabah. Butterflies are ecologically important as pollinators and they are a source of inspiration for many people. Due to its beauty in appearance\, they are often known as flying jewels. Besides showcasing the diversity of butterflies in Sabah\, the speaker will also feature the importance and conservation of butterflies in Sabah.\n\nDate: 21 July 2022\, Thursday\nTime: 8.00 PM\nZoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/5029652692\n\nSpeaker: Dr Arthur Chung was born in Sandakan\, Sabah. He obtained his B.Sc. (Zoology) and M.Sc. (Entomology) at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in Bangi\, Selangor. He later pursued his D.Phil. at Oxford Universiti\, U.K. researching on beetle diversity in Sabah. Arthur has been working for about 30 years with the Sabah Forestrt Department and he is currently the Deputy Head (Research and Publication) of the Forest Research Centre Sepilok. To date\, he has written more than 250 research papers reports and articles\, authored a few books.
