Dear Sabah Society Members, There will be no scheduled Sabah Society excursions in October as there are other exciting events taking place which we encourage members to participate. The Borneo Orchid Society of Sabah, supported by Sabah Tourism Board, has organized the annual Borneo Orchid Show for October 1st-5th. The venue is the new Suria 
Four days trekking up and into the stunning Maliau Basin in Sabah, and then out again, is not for the faint hearted! Aside from the very steep ascent into and descent out of the Basin, which can challenge even the fittest, there are literally thousands of Tiger and Brown leeches waiting to pounce – the Mr Nicholas Chung will be giving a presentation titled “Under the Borneo Sun – A Tawau Story” at the Sandakan Yacht Club, Jalan Sim-Sim, Sandakan on Friday 25th June, 2010 at 7:45 pm. For further information please contact Ms. Rosalie Corpuz on 012-8268545 or Mr. Genga. on 013-8837370 Yayasan Sabah has invited up to 18 members of The Sabah Society to participate in the Borneo International Conference “Discover Borneo” to be held on the 6th April, 2010 at the Tun Hamdan Mini Theatre, Menara Tun Mustapha, Kota Kinabalu. This Conference is organized in conjunction with the launching of the “k@Borneo” portal on the Sabah Society President Dr Heng Aik Cheng thanking Dr Rudy Wenk for his talk ‘Reminscences about Eduard Wenk’s Travels in Borneo, 1936-1939’ about the Borneo adventures of his father (who was the personality Winki in Agnes Keith’s well-known book Land Below the Wind) illustrated with many of his father’s photos. |
