Recent research on the wood coffins in Sabah has discovered many ancient wood coffin sites, mostly in the eastern region of Sabah. The majority of the wood coffin sites are concentrated in limestone cave massifs along the Kinabatangan River while some are found in the districts of Lahad Datu, Kunak and Semporna.
