Members of The Sabah society together with three members of the 1964 Royal Society Expedition to the Eastern plateau of Mount Kinabalu who revisited the Mesilau Cave, near the site of the base camp of that expedition, 23 October 2004. Sabah Society’s fourth trip to Mantanani Resort, a popular spot for families and novice divers, 9-10 October 2004. The sign to the Tabin Wildlife Reserve partially blocked by Sabah Society members who enjoyed a long weekend at the resort. The highlight of the trip had to be the group of elephants seen at close range as they ‘bumped’ their way out to Lahad Datu on the return journey, 16-18 September 2004. The brave Sabah Society members who braved the cold and pouring rain to ascend the very much less-known eastern plateau of Mount Kinabalu along a route only opened to non-professional climbers after the installation of aluminum ladders by the 1989 Raleigh International project, 6-8 September 2004 Sabah Society members and families who joined the cycling tour from Kudat to Sabah’s newest tourist attraction, Tanjung Simpang Mengayau, the most northerly tip of Borneo, and (some cyclists) back to the starting point, 5 September 2004. A large group of Sabah Society members who enjoyed a long weekend at Lankayan Island, a 1 ½-hour boat ride from Sandakan, 28-30 August 2004. East coast members of The Sabah Society who joined the trip to Danum Valley, 19 –21 August 2004. The spectacular Maga Falls and the profusion of orchids were the highlights of the second Sabah Society trip to Long Pa Sia, 13-16 August 2004. Members of the Sabah Society enjoyed home-stay hospitality and a boat ride and walk along the Matang River at Long Pa Sia, 6-8 August 2004. The first Sabah Society trip to the Imbak Canyon failed to reach its intended destination because of rain, but all still had a good time, 17-21 July 2004. |
