The next Sabah Society event will be the launching of a new book, The Kotal Route Sketches: Royal Society Kinabalu Expedition 1964 on Tuesday 19th April, by Mr Chu Chee Kuen who has most generously sponsored the publication costs. This book contains a collection of the original sketches made by Prof. E.J.H. Corner during The Royal Society Expedition to climb Mt Kinabalu The members of Sabah Society are cordially invited to the launch of the book “Beautiful Mountains of Sabah”, the photo competition prize presentation and exhibition on 24th September, 2010, @ 4.00pm at Palm Square, Centre Point Shopping Mall, Kota Kinabalu. Mr Shimomoto’s book about this relatively unknown period in Sabah’s history, published by The Sabah Society, was launched on Wednesday 14th July. Sixty five people attended, one of the best attendances to any event held at the Secretariat. Mr Shimomoto set the scene by describing the somewhat involved story of Japan in the late 19th Ken Goodlet, author of the soon to be published book “Tawau: The making of a Tropical Community”, will be presenting a talk to the Sabah Society on the same subject at 19:30 on Thursday 1st July at the Secretariat.
